Wheatgrass -
Nutritional values
Wheatgrass is the young wheat plant that is valued by health-conscious
individuals as a great natural source of vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll
and enzymes. As the human stomach cant digest grass in its natural
form the juice must be extracted from the young wheat plants. The juice
is then drunk as an energy tonic, a blood cleanser, a natural antioxidant,
as well as a healer of many illnesses.
Wheatgrass juice is considered to be a complete food in itself. It contains
70% chlorophyll, which is often referred to as the "blood of plant
life" Both chlorophyll (as in wheatgrass juice) and haemoglobin
(red blood cells) are molecularly similar and creates an unfavourable
environment for bacterial growth in the body, and so increasing the
bodys resistance to illness. Wheatgrass juice is also known as
an alternative cancer therapy and it is ideal for dieters, athletes,
and people on the go, who want to maintain a healthy immune system,
or simply anyone who want to feel great.
Wheatgrass juice contains 20 amino acids, which are the building blocks
of proteins. The body uses these amino acids for things like building
muscle tissue, repairing cells and clotting the blood. Wheatgrass juice
is also a natural source of B vitamins and vitamins A, C, E and K. There
are also over 90 minerals (including calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium
and potassium), which are needed to maintain good metabolism.
Suggested Dosage:
For normal health maintenance 1 to 2 shots of 30 ml daily.
For therapeutic dosage 2 to 4 shots of 30 ml daily.
People should gradually increase from 1 shot to 4 spread throughout
the day.
